People. Stories. Moments That Matter.
With a background in directing film, commercials, and a television pilot during his years in Los Angeles, Matt Draper brings a sharp visual sensibility and deep storytelling instinct to his work as a commercial photographer. Now based in Denver, Matt has spent the past several years refining his approach — moving from headshots and event coverage into more intentional, story-driven photography that centers on people and place.
Matt is known for his ability to make people feel at ease in front of the camera — whether he's photographing a CEO, an artist, or a stranger on the street. That natural connection with his subjects is what led to his current fine art portrait series, Portraits & Detours, which explores spontaneous encounters with strangers throughout Denver and pairs striking visual portraits with short, personal stories. The series reflects his broader creative approach: instinctive, human-centered, and visually honest.
His commercial work spans live events, branding campaigns, and environmental portraits, often blending editorial and lifestyle aesthetics. Matt’s experience on set and behind the camera in the entertainment industry gives him a comfort with talent and a fluency in production dynamics that helps keep shoots efficient, collaborative, and creatively focused.
He has worked with a range of clients across hospitality, nonprofit, higher education, and corporate sectors — including brands like Danone, Emirates and Habitat for Humanity. Matt is especially drawn to projects that highlight real people and real experiences, bringing authenticity and clarity to every frame.
Whether documenting a product launch, producing on-location brand portraits, or building a visual campaign from scratch, Matt brings presence, flexibility, and a practiced eye to every project.
