Ways to Work Together

The right image depends on what it needs to do.

A casting headshot, executive portrait, and personal-branding library should not all feel the same.

Each session is planned around your audience, how the images will be used, and what someone should understand about you the moment they see them.

The Draper Studios Approach

You don’t need to know how to pose.

That’s my job.

Most people do not arrive knowing exactly what to do with their posture, expression, hands, or energy. You should not have to.

I direct the details throughout the session while making sure the final photographs still feel natural, believable, and recognizably you.

01

Before the Session

Prepare with purpose.

We begin with how the photographs will be used, who needs to respond to them, and what they should communicate about you.

  • Wardrobe and color guidance
  • Background and lighting direction
  • Clear goals for every look
02

During the Session

Direct the moment.

You will receive specific, continuous direction—not vague instructions to relax, smile, or somehow act natural on command.

  • Posture and body-position adjustments
  • Expression and emotional direction
  • Live review as we photograph
03

After the Session

Refine without erasing.

Retouching should polish the photograph without removing the texture, character, and humanity that make it feel authentic.

  • Natural, detailed retouching
  • Professional color and tonal finishing
  • Files prepared for their intended use

Selected Work

Different people. Different stories.

The style changes with the person, the audience, and the purpose of the photograph.

What remains consistent is thoughtful lighting, clear direction, and images that feel polished without losing the person inside them.

For Companies + Organizations

Draper Studios also works with companies that need consistent team photography or thoughtful coverage of an important event.

A better photograph. A better experience getting there.

The finished images matter. So does how you feel while they are being created.

Sessions are designed to feel clear, collaborative, and fully directed—especially for people who do not naturally feel comfortable in front of a camera.

Meet Your Photographer

Good direction starts with paying attention.

I’m Matt Draper. I photograph people—not a polished, overly posed version of them, but the person who appears when the room feels comfortable and the camera stops becoming the center of attention.

Before building Draper Studios in Denver, I spent years working in the Los Angeles entertainment industry and closely with actors in front of the camera. That experience taught me how much small adjustments in expression, posture, energy, and intention can change an image.

Some people need help relaxing. Others need help finding greater confidence, warmth, authority, or emotional depth. My job is to recognize what the photograph needs and give you clear direction without making the result feel directed.

Frequently Asked Questions

A few things you may want to know first.

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to wear, how to pose, or which type of session fits your needs.

We will plan those details together so the session feels clear before you ever step in front of the camera.

01 Which type of session is right for me?

Choose an Actor Headshot session when the images need to communicate casting type, range, and character. Choose a Professional Headshot session when you need a polished photograph for LinkedIn, company bios, press, speaking, or professional profiles.

Choose Personal Branding when you need multiple looks and a larger image library for a website, social media, marketing, press, or ongoing content.

02 What should I wear?

Wardrobe depends on your audience and what the photograph needs to communicate. In general, clothing should fit well, feel current, and support your face rather than compete with it.

Before the session, you will receive guidance on colors, layers, necklines, textures, and the number of options to bring. Actor and branding sessions receive additional planning for the purpose of each look.

03 What if I am uncomfortable in front of the camera?

Most people are. You are not expected to arrive knowing how to pose, what to do with your hands, or how to create the right expression on command.

I provide clear, continuous direction for posture, expression, movement, and energy. We also review images during the session so you can see what is working and feel confident that we are getting what you need.

04 Where are sessions photographed?

Individual headshot sessions can be photographed at the Draper Studios Denver studio. Depending on the session, we may also use nearby exterior locations or photograph on location at your office, home, or another environment connected to your work.

Personal-branding sessions may combine studio and location photography. Team headshots are typically photographed at the company’s office.

05 How quickly will I receive my photographs?

Proofs are normally delivered through a private gallery on the same day as your session. After you choose your favorites, selected final photographs are generally retouched and delivered within 48 hours.

Larger team, branding, and event projects may have a different delivery schedule based on the number of photographs and the scope of the assignment.

06 Can you photograph our team or come to our office?

Yes. A complete professional setup can be brought to your office for team headshots, leadership portraits, or company-wide photography.

The lighting, background, crop, and retouching are planned to create a consistent visual standard while still giving each person individual direction. Projects can also combine team headshots with event or conference coverage.
